CATC Dissolution

Message from Bruce Byron, Executive Director

Dear CATC Members:

It is with regret that I leave my post of the last eleven years as CATC’s Executive Director. As Ed Berger has outlined in his letter, CATC has accomplished much in its tenure and now with the funding of the HERO program, it is time to leave on a high note.

Aside from service to our community, the greatest satisfaction has come from working with you. I have been blessed to have had the best Chairs and Boards in Austin. I have given CATC my all and feel it is time to move on. I think the decision to dissolve CATC is the best one for the moment. I hope you all will continue to implement CATC’s goal of sensible cost-effective transportation for the benefit of the entire region.

Lastly, I want to recognize the most “unsung hero” of CATC – Loree Elton. Much of what CATC has accomplished is from her tireless and diligent work. I would not have been able to function without her continuous and timely support. So to the real and “virtual” Loree, I express my thanks and a hearty “well done”!

It is my sincere hope that in the future I may have the opportunity to work with all of you again in some other capacity. I wish you Godspeed in your endeavors.

Sincerely,
Bruce Byron
First, last and only (and arguably the best) Executive Director of the Capital Area Transportation Coalition
